Have You Spoken to Your Guardian Angel Today?
As adults we don’t think about our guardian angels as much. I don’t know why that is. As a child we were taught the Guardian Angel Prayer: “Guardian Angel, My Guardian Dear…”. We may have even had this precious picture of a pretty angel helping children over a broken bridge hanging on our wall. Google “Guardian Angel” and it is still the first image that comes up.
But at some point in our
lives we forget about this constant companion of ours. The good news is that
your Guardian Angel hasn’t forgotten you. For all eternity, your angel is by
your side to “light, and guard, rule and guide.” Amen.
But
what does this look like as an adult? Well, I think we can still pray for the
physical protection of our Guardian Angel, but maybe our “broken bridges” are different
as adults. Now they could be business trips with long flights, international
travel for vacations, skydiving for fun, or going on a first date. But let us not
forget that we can also call on our Guardian Angel for guidance or help in our
spiritual journey. I was reflecting on Philippians 4-8 the other day and my
guardian angel came to mind.
“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8
